The San Diego Ball-Jointed Doll (BJD) Con is an annual convention held in San Diego. We are a fan-driven, fan-staffed, and fan-oriented con for the BJD enthusiast. The single day event has vendors, prizes, drinks and snacks, a huge diorama, doll costume contest, and auction. The entry fee is $20 at the door and covers the entire event.
We'll have over a dozen vendors specializing in BJD clothes, accessories, and the dolls. The list for this year's con is located on the Vendor page.
Every year we build and display a huge diorama based on the theme for the year. This year is Steampunk, and we'll have over 30 feet of steampunk display for doll display and photos, as well as the costume contest.
Each participant in the convention receives one ballot to vote on the doll costume contest. There will be a First, Second, and Third place winners, chosen by vote count. Additionally, one entraint will be picked by the convention staff for the Director's Choice Award.
Convention participants can enter the contest with one BJD or a set of BJDs (which will count as a single entry). Voters are asked to choose the entry that most represents the theme, for this year, Steampunk. Please do not bring any display board or prop bigger than 18" wide, 18" deep, or over 36" high, in order to have enough space for all entraints.
In addition to a goody bag, all participants will receive a raffle ticket for prizes which will be drawn at random towards the end of the con.
At the end of the convention we will be auctioning off some of the diorama props. The sales of these items helps pay for the con and furture cons. This will be a voice auction.
